These past couple of weeks we've completed enough to safely say we're keeping to schedule. The first week of term 3 we nailed and glued thin 3mm thick stripes of plywood over our nails as suggested by Brodie our adviser for this competition. As usual we did more than enough sanding of the inside of the submarine, just to soften up those edges on the arches and frame pieces. Filling in gaps and holes from nails with putty was also a time consuming task in preparation for painting. We also had the Mayor of Gisborne come in and showed him our progress so far. He has happily agreed to unveil our submarine on the final day of the competition! Lastly, a big thanks to Mr Henwood who hooked us up with some perspex for our portholes. They look marvelous with the fish creature engravings! Also Jack learnt how to use the laser cutter so if we ever wanted to do laser cut something he can help us out :)
